The Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team is highly trained in tactical response for high-risk or emergency situations. SERT is utilized only after all other methods of resolving an emergency situation have been exhausted. A team is a support unit whose function is to safely, quickly and effectively assist agency operations in the maintenance or restoration of order. SERT utilizations include riots, disorders and disturbances, hostage situations, barricades, escapes, mass arrests, judiciary/ executive protection, high-risk trials, high-risk transportation, cell extractions, civil disturbances, high-risk evictions, high-security searches, and fire evacuations.
