Correctional Health Nurse
The Sheriff’s Office Medical Team is comprised of more than 40 dedicated nurses who provide around-the-clock healthcare to the inmate population. From the initial health screening at booking to ongoing medical visits, chronic care management, medication administration, preventive care, and patient education, our nurses work collaboratively with healthcare providers and sworn staff to deliver quality care.
Nurse Salary
Correctional Health Nurse Salary:
- $83,009.89 – $138,349.74 Annually
Incentive Pay
You’ll receive additional pay, such as:
- Night and evening differential
- Foreign language stipend (if applicable)

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have three years of post-licensure experience as a nurse in an equivalent healthcare setting.
The required experience must include:
- A focus primarily on prevention services and community education
- Two years in a public health or community health setting
- At least one year in a public health or community health specialty area or supervisory responsibilities
These experience requirements help ensure applicants are prepared for the responsibilities of the position.
Required Certifications
Nursing applicants must meet required certification standards after appointment.
Required certifications include:
- AED certification within 60 days
- CPR certification within 60 days
Applicants must also possess a valid driver’s license.

You’ll work a 12.5-hour shift on a squad schedule, 15 days per month, for a total of 87.5 hours per two-week pay period. Day shift is 6:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.; night shift is 6:30 p.m. – 7 a.m.
